Medicines have benefits and some have risks. Always read the label and use only as directed. If symptoms persist or you have side effects see your health professional. Brands and generics both contain the same active ingredient(s) and are medically equivalent. Some brands are marketed under different names by the same manufacturer depending on the country of origin. Images are provided as a reference only, the received medicine may vary in packaging, color, pill shape, etc, from one batch to the next. For an item marked "generic" any quality brand may be sent, however you will always receive the active ingredients ordered in the strength(s) ordered.
Astelin (azelastine hydrochloride) is a powerful, non-steroidal nasal spray which combats allergy symptoms of runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing and so forth.
Many allergy sufferers prefer to buy Astelin over similar allergy treatments because it does not contain a steroid. Steroid products are often slow to work---requiring several days of continuous treatment---and can produce a range of potentially severe adverse effects. Aside from allergic reactions to the ingredients, which is a risk with any medication, Astelin is very unlikely to produce serious side effects. In fact it is safe enough that it may be used in patients as young as 5 years of age. Astelin also works quickly and can be used as-needed.
Astelin is known by a number of other brand names depending on the area in which it's marketed, including Rhinolast, Azep, Allergodil, Astepro and Lastin. In some areas it's also possible to buy Astelin as the generic azelastine hydrochloride.
Give Allergies the Boot with Astelin
Astelin can be used as-needed to combat hay fever-like symptoms from any source. It effectively reduces or eliminates:
Common sources of allergies include pollen, animal dander, dust, mold spores, natural and synthetic chemicals and some types of pollution. Astelin is beneficial when any of these allergens produce the above symptoms. What it does not do is reduce symptoms of asthma or allergic reactions from foods or medications which cause difficulty breathing, swelling and hives or rashes---these symptoms call for emergency medical attention.
Astelin comes in a small bottle with an application tip which produces a mist when activated. The device needs to be primed before first use, and may need to be primed if unused for more than a few days. If it produces a stream of liquid rather than a mist, it should be re-primed. To prime, simply activate the pump two or three times until it produces a mist.
Once primed, the nasal spray is easy to use:
The medication can produce an unpleasant taste in the back of the mouth. Keeping the head tilted forward for about a minute while breathing gently may significantly reduce this side effect.
As mentioned above, one reason so many allergy sufferers buy Astelin is for the speed at which it begins working---usually about 15 minutes after administration. If allergies are very severe it may take a little longer. Full benefits may not be realized for two to three hours after treatment. Effects are best if administered at the earliest signs of allergy symptoms.
The medication can be used daily for as long as needed, provided it is still producing good results and not causing serious side effects.

I added a bottle of this to my last order of Flonase just to try it. It leaves a strong chemical taste in the back of my throat and makes me sneeze, so I will stick to Flonase.
